As part of the SMART START project implemented by the EU-funded CPCD (Center for the Promotion of Civil Society), the Ekosol Citizens Association has received funding to open the first Makrespace in Tuzla and the second in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through a series of project activities organized by the CPCD, our members presented the Makerspace Multifunctional Workshop and Classroom Business plan and received funding for it.
WHAT IS A MAKERSPACE?
In western countries, the term “makerspace” has been known for a long time and is usually referred to as small or large open type workshops. Over the years, this concept has expanded globally, but is barely represented in B&H. As materials processing tools are often expensive, innovators also known as “makers” in the West, face the problem of finding the right tool for their projects, which puts their ideas on hold. Because of this, individuals began to organize and create “collective” workshops in which tools and knowledge could be shared. Makerspaces are usually equipped with a wide range of tools ranging from rough power tools such as drills, grinders and welding machines to sophisticated tools such as measuring instruments, oscilloscopes, microcontrollers and programmers.

What do we offer?
Any interested person can become a beneficiary of Makrespace by joining the Ekosol Citizens Association. All members have the ability to use the space and all the tools in it, including computers. Members also have the right to use some of Makerspace’s consumables as well as the ability to organize certain events within it. The activities also include workshops that are regularly organized in various fields of technology such as. working with the Arduino platform, using 3D printers, etc. that members can attend for free! Another benefit is the preparation for the entrance exam for technical colleges, as well as mathematics, informatics and physics classes, which can be organized at a symbolic cost using all the multimedia aids on the premises of Makerspace. The monthly fee for Makerspace is 5KM! Anyone who is interested or in need of additional information can visit us at Ulica Broke Mladosti Br. 5 from 09:00 to 16:00 or contact us at:
